Could you share your experience of being an intern here at 3R?
About 3 years ago, I did an internship at 3R, and it was a great experience. I managed to work on a project which achieved some cool outcomes. We secured funding to start a trial and did testing around the Paintwise program. It was a great environment, and I loved it. I’m happy to be back.
What influenced your decision to return to work at 3R after your internship?
The main influence on my decision to return to 3R was my passion for working on industrial waste solutions. Throughout university, I loved all the projects around finding solutions for by-products and waste. It’s what my passion is, and that’s why I came to work here.
Can you walk us through what a typical day looks like for you in your current role at 3R?
A typical day here at 3R involves a lot of project meetings. We discuss different outcomes for the day and meet with clients to bring new products and projects on board. Additionally, there’s a lot of research, including different waste solutions and calculating data based on financial aspects. We try to make it work, even when dealing with less profitable by-products.
Have you had any achievements since working at 3R? If so, what are they?
My achievements so far at 3R include being involved in a trial for turning old car bumpers into new products. It’s been a really exciting project to see through to the final stages, rather than just the research side. We actually get to see the implementation side, which has been great.
How would you describe the company culture here?
The company culture at 3R is great. It’s a real family environment; everyone gets on board and helps each other out. The teams aren’t so separated; everyone works together, and we all have the same goal, which is really cool.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with potential employees about your experience working here?
For new employees looking to work here, it’s a great industry to be in. Waste solutions are a big issue across New Zealand and the world, so it’s great to be a part of making a positive difference in the New Zealand environment.
