A circular future with stewardship at the centre standard

by Adele Rose, 3R Chief Executive Mention the term ‘product stewardship’ to the first person you bump into on the street and chances are you will be met with a blank look. The truth is, it’s not a widely known concept in New Zealand. It also is and isn’t a simple one either. Suggest that manufacturers and retailers should take responsibility for the products they make and sell throughout the lifetime of those products (the definition of product stewardship), and the blank look will probably turn into a puzzled one. Taking a stand on climate change standard

3R Group has signed up to the Climate Leaders Coalition, joining a group of businesses dedicated to “forging a path to create a future that is low-emission, positive for our businesses and economy, and inclusive for all New Zealanders”. Call to end lubricant packaging waste standard

Media release Major lubricant industry brands are calling on importers and distributors in the market to join them in tackling the issue of millions of lubricant packages being discarded every year. A Waste Lubricant Container Product Stewardship Scheme has been established with the aims of exploring recycling options for lubricant containers. It is estimated that around 7 million (20 litre and under) lubricant and grease containers, plus an unknown number of 200 litre drums, are sent to landfills each year. Reimagining solutions for recycled paint standard

by Harman Sandhu – Materials Innovation Manager I recently had the opportunity to present on my work around recycled paint at Australia’s leading waste management industry conference, the Coffs Harbour Waste Conference. It was a great opportunity to talk about the work we are doing at 3R Group on reimagining solutions for paint and packaging product stewardship in New Zealand. The three-day conference covered a wide range of topics from kerbside recycling to mattress and tyre recycling. Landmark report predicts huge economic benefits from circular economy standard

A landmark report, supported by 3R Group, has predicted an increase in economic activity for Auckland of up to $8.8 billion should the city move to a low carbon, circular economy. However, as 3R Chief Executive Adele Rose points out it is not only the nation’s most populous city which can benefit from a shift to the circular economy, but the regions too.
