Partnering to accelerate the New Zealand circular economy standard

The circular economy is the economy of the future, and 3R Group are proud to have joined as Foundation Partners of the newly launched Circular Economy Accelerator (CEA). 3R, along with Fuji Xerox are the first to get on board with the Sustainable Business Network-led initiative. Chemical collections help fund Million Metres Streams planting standard

We have been doing chemical collections for nearly 10 years and know that chemicals incorrectly disposed of often end up in our waterways. Safely collecting and disposing of these hazardous materials helps to preserve our ecosystems, however we wanted to take it a step further. As part of our new ChemCollect service we will donate $200 for every tonne of materials collected to a Million Metres Streams Project, restoring and protecting our waterways. Our first donation of $1,720 has gone to the Silver Stream Restoration Project in Clarkville, outside Christchurch. Making wheelie good use of solar power standard

The Whangaparaoa Community Recycling Centre has found a way to harness the power of the sun as it gears up for the busy festive season. The recycling centre recently began using a solar-powered wheelie bin lifter for glass recycling after being granted $11,000 by the Glass Packaging Forum (GPF). 3R Group are the scheme managers for the GPF. The machine, which was custom made by Simpro Engineering, lifts bins filled with colour-sorted container glass and tips it into a storage container at the small site. The glass can then be transported to New Zealand’s only glass manufacturers O-I New Zealand to be remade into new glass bottles and jars. A sustainable partnership for zero waste standard

The NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards 2017 were once again a great event to be involved with, and we were proud to be an Event Partner for the second year running. The black-tie event, held at Auckland’s waterfront on November 29, featured the heavy hitters of New Zealand’s sustainable business world – from large corporates to small enterprises making a big difference. It was particularly significant to see Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as well as Climate Change Minister James Shaw, Environment and Economic Development Minister David Parker and Napier MP Stuart Nash turn out for the awards.
